Job Description

If you’re a skilled BMS Small Works Project Engineer looking to evolve your career beyond reactive callouts, this is your chance to take on a proactive, project-led role that puts your expertise front and centre.

About the role:

As a BMS Small Works Project Engineer, you’ll be delivering high-impact small works and upgrade projects across the Midlands and London—making meaningful improvements to how buildings perform.

This isn’t your typical service engineer position. You’ll be working closely with Trend and Tridium systems to carry out system enhancements, energy-saving upgrades, and control strategy improvements. Whether it’s integrating new plant, expanding an existing system, or leading a full upgrade, you’ll own the project lifecycle—from scope through to commissioning and handover.

Projects can range from smaller tweaks completed on the go, to larger, planned works with full documentation and stakeholder coordination. These are service-generated opportunities—not emergency callouts—giving you the space to engineer, not just repair.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the go-to technical lead on BMS small works projects
  • Developing scopes of work, site surveys and producing technical and commercial estimates
  • Overseeing project delivery—engineering, programming, and commissioning support
  • Acting as a key contact for clients and internal stakeholders
  • Collaborating with the wider project and service teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Delivering upgrades, retrofits, and energy efficiency improvements to BMS systems
  • Working across a varied portfolio of buildings, primarily within the commercial and public sectors
  • Collaborate with forward-thinking service teams and project engineers
  • See your ideas delivered on-site and make a real difference to energy and operational efficiency

Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of BMS systems, particularly Trend and/or Tridium Niagara
  • Previous experience delivering or supporting small works, upgrades or lifecycle projects
  • Ability to conduct site surveys, create proposals, and manage technical documentation
  • Understanding of HVAC plant and integration of building services
  • Comfortable liaising with clients and attending site meetings
  • ECS/CSCS Card and relevant electrical qualifications (Desirable)
  • Trend SET, Tridium Certification or similar manufacturer training (Advantageous)
  • UK driving licence

What’s in it for you?

  • £50,000 – £55,000 base salary (negotiable)
  • Company car or car allowance
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays
  • Pension scheme
  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Ongoing professional development with a focus on BMS innovation

If you’re a BMS Engineer looking for more ownership, greater variety, and the chance to lead service-driven projects with real impact—this is your move. You’ll enjoy variety, autonomy, and the support of a wider service and projects team—alongside access to cutting-edge control technologies and integration tools.
