Job Description

Work on major BMS projects where commissioning is done properly

If you’re a BMS Commissioning Engineer who enjoys complex project sites, clean handovers, and a team that pulls together to achieve the end result together, this could be a strong move.

You’ll join a major projects team delivering multi-million-pound BMS installations across Cardiff and the South West. The work is varied, technically demanding, and visible.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll take ownership of commissioning on high-value BMS projects, working alongside PMs, contractors and end users to get systems running as designed.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Commissioning and completing BMS installations on complex projects
  • Working to programme, budget and quality targets without cutting corners
  • Reading and working from electrical drawings, control schematics and MEP drawings
  • Making adjustments to pre-configured software and graphics where needed
  • Supporting the wider delivery team with technical input and a calm approach on live sites
  • Maintaining commissioning records, trackers and reports so nothing gets missed at handover

What you’ll need to be comfortable with

This role suits someone who’s confident on site, steady under pressure, and proud of doing things right. You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience commissioning BMS on live projects
  • Strong understanding of air, hydraulic and electrical systems
  • Confidence reading wiring diagrams and control drawings
  • Exposure to metering and third-party interfacing (useful, not essential)
  • A positive, proactive approach to Health and Safety
  • A clear, professional way of working with clients and other trades
  • Willingness to travel across Cardiff and the South West

Platform experience: Trend or Schneider StruxureWare is preferred, but Siemens, Tridium or Distech experience is also relevant. Training can be provided for the right person.

The challenge (so you can decide if it’s for you)

Major projects come with pressure. Programmes move, live environments change, and you’ll sometimes need to think on your feet to keep commissioning on track while protecting quality and safety. If you like being the person who brings order to the final stages, you’ll do well here.

What you’ll get

  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience)
  • Generous bonus scheme
  • Company car (including fully electric options) or monthly car allowance
  • Overtime opportunities
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • Private medical insurance (BUPA)
  • Life assurance (4x annual salary)
  • CycleScheme (up to £2,500)
  • Employee ownership Scheme after 12 months
