Job Description

BMS Commissioning Engineer – Data Centres, Pharma & Critical Infrastructure (UK / Europe)

If you are a commissioning engineer who knows the difference between “getting it running” and actually commissioning a system properly, this role will feel very different to most.

You will be joining a specialist projects division delivering BMS systems into data centres, pharmaceutical environments, and complex infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe.

These are not standard commercial projects. They are technically demanding environments where commissioning is structured, documented, and accountable — from FAT through to IST — with full QA/QC processes in place.

You will be part of a team where engineers are expected to understand the system, not just follow a checklist.

What this means in practice:

  • You are involved early enough to influence outcomes, not just fix issues at the end
  • Commissioning is delivered through defined QA/QC stages, giving clarity and structure
  • You gain exposure to complex plant, integration, and control strategies
  • You work alongside engineers who understand the detail and expect the same

This is the type of environment that sharpens your technical ability quickly.

What you will be doing
You will take responsibility for commissioning delivery across assigned projects, including:

  • Full commissioning through QA/QC Levels 1–5 (FAT → SAT → IST)
  • Point-to-point checks, terminations, panel and wiring modifications where required
  • Production and modification of:
    • Control schedules
    • Descriptions of operation
    • Commissioning documentation and drawings
  • Commissioning of DDC systems including Trend, Tridium, Schneider, Siemens or ALC
  • Managing witnessing packs, QA documentation, and structured handover
  • Producing daily reports aligned to programme delivery
  • Supporting and mentoring junior engineers on site
  • Contributing to technical submittals, RFIs, and commissioning files

What you need
You will already be comfortable working in live project environments and able to take ownership of your section of work.

Specifically:

  • Proven BMS commissioning experience
  • Strong understanding of HVAC plant and control strategies
  • Experience with at least one major BMS platform (Trend, Tridium, Schneider, Siemens, ALC)
  • Ability to interpret and modify control strategies
  • Electrically competent with strong site awareness
  • Comfortable working independently while integrating into a wider team

What you get

  • Exposure to high-spec, technically complex projects
  • Structured commissioning processes that improve your capability
  • Multi-system experience (not locked into one platform)
  • Opportunity to step into senior / lead commissioning roles
  • European project exposure (with travel fully supported)

Reality check

  • Travel is part of the role (UK and EU), but organised and supported
  • Standards are high — documentation, QA, and delivery matter
  • This is not a “turn up and tick boxes” role

If you want to work on projects that genuinely develop your technical level rather than repeat the same work, this is a strong move.
