Job Description
Senior BMS Commissioning Engineer | Trend Focus | London & Home Counties
What you'll actually be doing and why it matters
If you're a BMS Commissioning Engineer who enjoys taking technical ownership rather than simply working through snag lists, this is an opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of BMS projects across London and the Home Counties.
You'll be trusted to lead commissioning activities on allocated projects, working closely with Project Managers, design engineers and site teams to ensure systems are fully tested, optimised and handed over successfully.
The role has a strong emphasis on Trend Control Systems, so you'll need to be confident commissioning, fault finding and modifying Trend-based installations. You'll also be involved in software modifications, controller commissioning, network configuration, third-party integrations, graphics implementation, functional testing, client witnessing and final handover activities.
Why this move could be better
This role offers the opportunity to work with a high degree of technical independence while remaining part of a wider project delivery team.
You'll have the chance to:
- Take ownership of technically challenging commissioning activities.
- Act as a senior technical resource, supporting and guiding less experienced engineers.
- Work across a varied portfolio of BMS projects rather than being limited to a narrow scope of work.
For engineers who enjoy solving problems, improving system performance and seeing projects through to successful completion, this role provides genuine technical involvement from commissioning through to handover.
Essentials
You'll ideally bring:
- Strong hands-on BMS commissioning experience.
- Extensive experience with Trend Control Systems, including commissioning and fault finding.
- Strong HVAC controls knowledge and the ability to interpret technical documentation.
- Experience with software modifications, networks, integrations, graphics and functional testing.
- Confidence carrying out client witnessed testing and system demonstrations.
- A full UK driving licence and valid construction site competency certification.
Experience with Distech Controls and/or Tridium Niagara would be advantageous.
The challenge
This is a site-focused role covering projects across London, the Home Counties and other locations where required.
You'll need to be comfortable working independently, managing multiple commissioning priorities and diagnosing complex technical issues while maintaining high standards of documentation and client communication.
Your development
Alongside working on a varied range of projects, you'll have access to professional development opportunities and manufacturer training.
The position also offers the opportunity to further develop your leadership capability by supporting other commissioning engineers and contributing to commissioning standards and engineering best practice.
Practicalities
- Permanent position
- Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
- London & Home Counties based, with project travel
- Company car or car allowance
- Company phone and laptop
- Company pension scheme
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
