What you'll actually be doing and why it matters
If you're finding that your current role is focused on just one discipline, this opportunity offers exposure to a wider range of energy, HVAC and Building Management Systems technologies across London and Greater London.
As a Service / Commissioning Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining, commissioning and supporting District Heating, Energy Centre and BMS installations. Your work will cover planned preventative maintenance, reactive callouts, fault diagnosis, system optimisation and the commissioning of small works projects.
You'll work with a range of technologies including CHP plants, heat pumps, boiler systems and leading BMS platforms such as Trend, Cylon, Siemens and Tridium. You'll also play an important role in producing technical documentation, commissioning records, O&M manuals, site surveys and detailed engineering reports while supporting clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Why this move could be better
This role offers far more than routine service work.
You'll gain exposure to:
- District Heating and Energy Centre environments.
- Multiple BMS and controls platforms.
- A blend of service, commissioning and project activities.
- Increased technical responsibility and customer interaction.
- Opportunities to supervise junior engineers and subcontractors.
- Additional systems training where required.
The position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working autonomously and seeing projects through from initial site survey to client handover.
Essentials
We're keen to speak with engineers who have:
- Mechanical engineering experience.
- Electrical competence and fault-finding ability.
- HVAC plant knowledge.
- Experience interpreting control strategies, panel drawings and schematic diagrams.
- Strong organisational and customer-facing skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
- A full UK driving licence.
Previous experience within BMS, Building Controls, Energy Centres, District Heating, CHP, Heat Pumps or Commercial HVAC environments would be highly advantageous.
The challenge
This is a field-based role requiring excellent time management, attention to detail and a proactive approach. You'll be trusted to manage your own workload, attend customer sites across London and Greater London, maintain accurate technical records and provide professional representation on behalf of the business.
Your development
The diversity of sites and technologies will provide continuous technical development. You'll enhance your expertise across Building Management Systems, HVAC controls, energy infrastructure and commissioning activities, while developing broader project and customer management skills.
