Job Description
BMS Service and Commissioning Engineer - Midlands / Central UK
Up to £55,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance
If you’re an experienced BMS Service Engineer looking for a role that gives you a mix of service, fault-finding and commissioning rather than focusing on just one area, this could be worth a conversation.
We’re recruiting a BMS Service & Commissioning Engineer to cover the Midlands and central band of the UK, carrying out planned maintenance, reactive call-outs, small works and commissioning across a range of BMS systems.
The role will suit an engineer who is comfortable working independently on customer sites, diagnosing issues and making changes to existing BMS control strategies, while remaining part of a wider technical team when additional support or knowledge is needed.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
As a BMS Service & Commissioning Engineer, your work will include:
• Planned preventative maintenance across BMS and building controls systems
• Attending reactive call-outs and breakdowns
• Fault-finding and making appropriate alterations to existing BMS control strategies
• Commissioning BMS control systems as part of service and small works activities
• Producing software, wiring and commissioning schedules for small works
• Completing conditional site surveys and providing recommendations
• Maintaining software and strategy backups for serviced sites
• Producing accurate site reports following each visit
• Updating control panel drawings and descriptions of operation where required
• Preparing O&M documentation for smaller projects
• Managing subcontractors where required
• Demonstrating and handing over completed smaller works to customers
• Identifying additional works that require quotation
• Building and maintaining effective relationships with customers
BMS EXPERIENCE
You’ll need practical experience with at least one of the following BMS platforms:
• Trend
• Tridium
• Schneider
• Siemens
• ALC
Knowledge of Niagara-based BMS systems is also relevant.
Alongside manufacturer knowledge, you should be able to interpret and alter existing BMS control strategies, understand HVAC systems and be electrically competent.
ABOUT YOU
This BMS Service & Commissioning Engineer position requires someone capable of taking responsibility for their own work while contributing effectively within a service and commissioning team.
You’ll need:
• Previous BMS service, commissioning or closely related building controls experience
• Strong fault-finding and technical skills
• A working understanding of HVAC systems
• Electrical competence
• The ability to work independently on customer sites
• Good communication and organisational skills
• The ability to produce clear site reports and technical documentation
• A customer-focused approach
• Willingness to travel across the Midlands and central UK as required by the role
PACKAGE
• Salary up to £55,000
• Choice of company car or car allowance
• Midlands / central UK service territory
• Varied work covering BMS service, PPM, reactive support, small works and commissioning
