Job Description

Start your BMS career the right way — flexible shifts, paid training, real progression (and real impact).

Who this suits:

You’re early in your BMS journey or coming from HVAC / Controls / FM / Building Services background with some exposure to service & maintenance. You like fault-finding, data patterns, and making systems run better—and you want a structured route to becoming a Controls Engineer. You’ll get a structured pathway into BMS Controls Engineering plus flexible working patterns (cover the team’s core hours, choose when you work). You’ll earn additional on-call income, access a multitude of benefits, and build long-term prospects. Most importantly, you’ll help a company on a mission to achieve net zero—making buildings run more efficiently and cutting environmental impact with every fix.

What you’ll be doing (and why it’s interesting)

  • Keep systems healthy: Remotely access BMS Control Systems, run controller/PC checks, review alarms, spot plant patterns, and diagnose faults.
  • Solve + escalate smartly: Follow a systematic diagnostic path; fix what you can, document what you can’t, escalate fast.
  • Grow your scope: Support reactive jobs under supervision; move into optimisation as you progress.
  • Make it stick: Keep sharp notes, logs and compliance records so improvements last and are auditable.

What you’ll bring

  • Exposure to BMS/HVAC/Controls/FM/Building Services.
  • Ability to interpret alarms and follow systematic diagnostics.
  • Clear communication, problem-solving and willingness to learn.

Practicalities

  • Base Location: Glasgow. But UK-based remote working may be considered.
  • Salary: up to C.£41k + on-call retainer & per-call payments and a wide range of employee benefits.
  • Shifts: flexible daytime working
  • Callout: added once onboarded. Windows: Weekday evenings, Weekend days and Overnight periods (limited).
  • Training: stepped programme Technician → Engineer (Siemens, Trend, Tridium, Distech; diagnostics; reporting).

One honest challenge:
When you join the rota, and out-of-hours alarm spikes happen, it's on you to find the fixes. You’ll need to learn to stay calm, use your knowledge and solve problems yourself.
