About the role:
As BMS Design Department Lead, you will manage and inspire the design team, ensuring all control system designs meet the highest technical, compliance, and quality standards. You will oversee day-to-day department operations, approve and quality-check designs, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to keep the team at the forefront of industry innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the BMS Design Department, ensuring smooth daily operations.
- Review, approve, and quality-check all design deliverables in line with ISO 9001 standards.
- Oversee panel design and build processes.
- Conduct design reviews with project and design managers; attend handovers and meetings.
- Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to source technical data.
- Identify design variations and commercial or technical risks.
- Monitor design hours to ensure projects are delivered efficiently.
- Support claims for additional works and identify value opportunities.
- Mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Skills and Experience:
- Proven leadership experience managing BMS design teams on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of Schneider, Distech, Tridium, Delta, and smart building concepts.
- Experience liaising with contractors, design teams, and senior stakeholders.
- Ability to review engineered solutions, identify risks, and produce key engineering documentation.
- Solid understanding of M&E building services, IT networks, and cloud-based technologies.
- CSCS cardholder (or willing to obtain).
